Fiberglass Grating Project Information:
Contractor DSD of HKSAR contacted our representative Tak Ho Engineering LTD in Hong Kong about this FRP opportunity between the Kowloon Byewash and Lower Shing Mun Reservoirs. The architect’s goal was to obscure the walkway to the new intake structure by creating an aesthetically pleasing undulating wave of FRP fins. Although wind loads were small, these FRP fins made of fiberglass plate had to cantilever as much as 4 feet past the support.
American Grating’s Engineering Team developed an architecturally pleasing plate shape reinforced with a fiberglass channel. As each fin was different, each was numbered to assure proper placement. We think the results were dramatic! American Grating also supplied an independent FRP Handrail that was top mounted to the concrete walkway between the two reservoirs.
Materials were supplied per specification:
C8x3/8 and C4x1-1/8x1/4 Channels (RAL 6025 'Fern Green')
Plate ¼” thick (RAL 6025 'Fern Green')
Top Mounted Handrail with Kickplate (RAL 7021 'Black Grey')
